We have so much to be thankful for in regards to his birth. So many things could be different right now, had God not been so faithful to us.
After being in labour all day, the doctors gave us the option of a c-section. Nothing had been progressing for 6 1/2 hours. At this point we knew something wasn't quite right, and the obstetrician thought he was too large. We went into surgery, and there found out that the c-section was absolutely the right choice as his cord was wrapped tightly around his neck twice. This means had I progressed to a point where he could have engaged, the cord would have been too short for him to be born without alot of serious problems.
My doctor, whom, as far as I know isn't a Christian, told me the next day that "Someone" must have been watching over my shoulder, like an angel, telling me to go ahead with the c-section. We are so thankful to that Someone that today we have our precious child to hold and snuggle.
He weighed in at a whopping 11 pounds, 1 ounce (oer 5 kgs!) and 56 cms long! Dr. Deacon was bragging to the nurses that he delivered the baby of the year, as Silas is the biggest baby born at the hospital so far in 2009. All the nurses had to come and see "the" baby and his Mommy and Daddy had the fun of phoning family and friends with our news and of course shocking people with his size.
Labouring in Style! (at the point where it is still possible to smile)
