Arriving in Holland...December 28th

Well, that was fun. And impulsive. And totally not just my idea! Roy and I thought up a plan to sneak over to Holland for the New Year celebration. Booked our tickets (for a surprisingly great price) and a few days later were on a plane. Caleb headed to Alberta with Grammi and Grampi, and Mycah headed over to the VanMuyens while we were away. I couldn't bear the thought of leaving my baby behind, so this time he was the lucky one to get spoiled by the dutch family. We weren't going to tell anyone we were coming but then decided to give Roy's sister Debby a call to pick us up in Amsterdam. I don't think she even believed Roy when he asked her to be at the airport at 7:00 the next evening. Schemed to send Debby to the door at Ma and Pa's with Silas and see if they recognized him. Roy and I hid behind the car to watch. So funny to hear her say, "Wat een leuke jongen!" It was so good to hear he's cute from an Oma who didn't know it was her grandson! Then she saw us, assumed we were Debby's friends, and told Debby to invite us in for coffee. I think she was rather shocked to see us run toward her! Pa came down the stairs when he heard the commotion and was just as surprised! The next day we headed over to Stephan and Tanja's to surprise them too. Only problem was, Ellen was walking the dog and saw us in the car, which prompted the whole family to come running down the street to greet us! Roy answered the phone when Stephan called home from work, and Stephan hung up, hearing a strange man on the phone. Next he phoned Tanja's cell phone which Roy also answered. Great fun. So then of course we went with the crew over to the next brother's place to stun them. We simply ran the doorbell and watched. Petula wasn't home so Roy phoned her to come over to her own house for coffee with us.
